Hi,

hmm, my 4.8.30 version does remember the search item.
IMHO searches are stored in ~/.local/share/mc/history, do you have this 
and it's writeable?

And I defined all the F13-F20 to shift+F3 - shift+F10, I think, thats 
what most people do...
