Just on a sidenote, since i am (on Debian and) very lazy so sometimes i just load the package list of unstable or experimental into my package manager, install the newer version of an app along the dependencies, and switch the package source back.

*Could* run into version problems with later updates but usually doesn't.

Don't know if thats possible with RH / non-rolling editions though.
