I looked into it a bit more, and the "Resource temporarily unavailable (35)" error is due to no identities being served by ssh-agent AND no host entry in ssh_config AND no password authentication available on the second host I tried. After loading the identities into the agent, I was able to connect just fine. Our error reporting is definitely not optimal, but I really have no idea what exactly is not working for the OP...
