I tested ubuntu 22.04 tar package deb
( btw. strange thing their security repo runs http not https ... see the https://packages.ubuntu.com/jammy/amd64/tar/download link )
/tmp r: file tar_1.34+dfsg-1ubuntu0.1.22.04.2_amd64.deb
tar_1.34+dfsg-1ubuntu0.1.22.04.2_amd64.deb: Debian binary package (format 2.0), with control.tar.zst, data compression zst
and i could browse it with mc just normal.
