[mc] Change directory in user menu?

I am doing some development that involves widely disjoint directories

What I would like to do is via the User Menu, have some key commands that
change the CD for the current pane, just as if I had typed it on the
command line:

cd /User/me/src/mycode

However, with this entry...

1       change to my src directory
        cd /User/me/src/mycode

...the pane does not move. I presume this occurs because this is executed
as a script, and so the cd happens in the context of the script and is lost
when the script ends.

Is there a way to actually cd the current pane from the user menu?
