Display count of selected files

With the newer version (I'm using 4.8.26) I noticed that selecting files
gives me the total selected size but not the selected file count.

It's a feature I use a lot and would like to restore it.

I went through the options but I could not see how to restore it or change
the information given on selected files.

Any help will be appreciated,
