Tiny Core quirk?

In my last query I omitted to tell that TC runs in RAM.
I'm using it via a USBstik.
At boot: some standard programs are loaded from the USB to RAM.
And I've added mc to also load  from the USB & run, from RAM.
So mc running in RAM, saves its setting in RAM.
That's why the setting from the previous session, get lost,
  -- without special precautions.

So the question is: how best to handle this problem: unanticipated by
the mc designers.
