key binding to InputClearLine does not work?

hello,

i'm trying to bind a keyboard shortcut to InputClearLine so that i
won't have to do ctrl-a, ctrl-k or ctrl-n to clear command-line but to
no avail. tried several shortcuts, made sure there were not already
defined, tried system-wide and also user-specific config files,
different terminals, still no go.

can anyone confirm or point me in the right direction?
