Find file repeats files

Typically when I do find file I get multiple copies of files, sometimes 10s,
sometimes 100s, or sometimes thousands (e.g 1394 times for history.dat in my
SeaMonkey profile dir, and probably at least 10 times that many for
alt.os.linux.suse.msf in the profile's News dir). Each of the repeats has a
number and : prepended. Is there any way to configure mc so that file finds
will only list any given file once, and ignore whatever those prepended
numbers mean?
