mc needing a DNS translation when run

I've been using mc for a long while.

As of one year or more mc performs a DNS address translation before
showing its window.

That's frustrating, because if I haven't a internet connection I can't
user mc.

Note that I'm not invoking it with a ftp argument or anything similar,
nor I did it in the last mc sessions.

I unistalled it completely and installed again, but nothing change. Also
a new user get that problem.

What could be the reason?
