glib12-config

Hi,

I've recently started using mc at home with NetBSd. Mostly for php.
I think this message belongs to this mailing list because I haven't 
really made a 'patch file' but I think I've managed to 'patch' an issue 
for my machine. :)

Using /stand/sysinstall was supposed to have installed the Midnight 
Commander package but the command mc didn't start the program and 
'locate mc' found nothing. Running periodic weekly and resetting the 
path didn't help.

After perusing the web page, I noticed glib 1.2.x was needed and a 
'locate glib' found the glib12-config file. I downloaded 
(http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/utils/file/managers/mc/mc-4.6.0-pre1.tar.gz)
the compressed tar file and uncompressed it in the same directory as the 
glib12-config file.

After a few failed attempts of using various ./configure lib and compile 
commands, a modification was made to your configure and configure.lineno 
files as per the suggestion in the INSTALL file:

I've added '12' after any directory reference of 'glib-config' so that 
it is now 'glib12-config'. Two changes were made thinking to echo the 
glib12-config verbosely in the printf. It worked!
./configure, make, and make install worked with no problem.

There is probably another easier (read 'right') way to do the configure 
or OS setup but this was very quick (only 3 or 5 inserts per file) and 
it hasn't core dumped all day.
Please let me know if I've completely missed the obvious here. heh

I have successful config* files attached if you want them.

I am using:

No 'X' programs or 'X' installed even though I think gnome would prefer it.

The failed config* files that had the exact error message I'd received 
everytime were overwritten except two that I entered as 
mc-4.6.0-pre1/configure:

see attached fconfig* copies.

Please reply if you don't receive the attachments. (You may receive them 
inline, whichever way the browser is configured) :)

Although X windows is great, I like a console non-gui graphics 
interface. I really like using mc with NetBsd and now I can use mc -c at 
work too. The cooledit and file manager are time saving and really are cool!
