Sorry, it was   

'Load syntax file file access error' (yellow invisible on gray), 
probably format or location had changed and I did not install  completely.


Another suspicious thing is that mc executable in v. 4.5.55 was 2465224, 
in v. 4.5.99a it became 6594560.

(SPARC Ultra 10, Sun OS 5.7, Sun WorkShop 6 C 5.3 (64-bit), all 
configure / compile parameters are the same, see above)
