sort char on the name line

Hi,
I have enjoyed using mc at least since last century :-)

I get very upset each time my cursor hits the top  "name" line and the sort 
order changes especially when I am using the mouse to pick up the top line of 
text and the cursor overshoots.

Please can I stop this behaviour or do I have to recompile an earlier release.

I haven't found anything about this character combination,mind you there is an 
awefull lot to read through.
