Open files on sftp link fails or opens wrong file

Hi,

opening files on an sftp link does not behave as expected.

When I try to open a file, the following error message is thrown and
the file is not opened:

gvfs-open: file:///tmp/somefile.pdf: error opening location: Error
when getting information for file '/tmp/somefile.pdf': No such file
or directory

The path /tmp is taken from the directory of the *non-active* panel
and the file name somefile.pdf is taken from the selected file in
the active panel.

In case the directory in the non-active panel contains a file called
somefile.pdf it is opened instead of the requested one.

Is opening files via sftp not supported or is this a bug?
