mc in Ubuntu Intrepid shows PS1 prompt improperly

Hi Developers,

I use mc version 2:4.6.2~git20080311-2 in Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex. It seems
that mc cannot handle the following setting from ~/.bashrc:

# If this is an xterm set the title to user at host:dir
case "$TERM" in
xterm*|rxvt*)
    PS1="\[\e]0;${debian_chroot:+($debian_chroot)}\u@\h: \w\a\]$PS1"
    ;;
*)
    ;;
esac

The result is I get a broken prompt in mc on the command line below the file
panels. I tried this from gnome-terminal.

I didn't check if this report is already reported or not. Sorry for that.
