Encoding of translations

Hi,

Can anyone tell me if MC currently supports UTF-8 output? If so, can I
update the Serbian translation and convert it to UTF-8? When I last
checked (admittedly, it was a few years ago), if the translated text was
in UTF-8, the menus were messed up.
