Tree-Maintenance: stable

Hi folks,


is anyone already maintaining the current (4.6.1) stable tree 
(and also willing to continue that work) ?

If yes, please provide a short description how to check out and 
how to submit patches.
Otherwise I'd volounteer to do that job.
