Details:

The message "the shell is already running a command" happens frequently when
running programs within a subshell. However, neither "jobs", nor "ps" show any
running command.

Unfortunately, I am not able to reproduce the problem at will. (I'll try to
find a way to reproduce it as soon as I can).
