The hang on unreadable files is a different story. See:

It's mentioned in the mailing list on several instances.

I investigated this bug a long time ago and I maybe even had a patch but I
have to dig it out. It's all in the mailing list archives. Anyway, I'll close
this bug report as fixed since the two issues are unrelated and I'll open a
new bug report for the unreadable file issue.
