Looks like a TERM issue. Set a correct TERM in your environment.

And, please use a recent version of mc when reporting bugs.

Lastly, please mail to mc at gnome.org with user issues *before* you start
reporting bugs.

Closing as "Invalid". Feel free to reopen if you have verified the issue
exists with a recent mc and a correct TERM setup.
