Problem while viewing rotated log files

I think we've already established the special case should be /var/log,
not the man pages directory as there might be more man pages in doc
directories than there are log files scattered along the file system.

All I was asking for is the right syntax to accomplish a system
independent match for the log directory. See my patch.
