Sorry for delayed reply. I use pre3 tarball for Fedora updates to let FC
users have the latest release candidate for a common usage and testing,
4.6.1a is not used at all in FC2/FC3. I decided to follow the HEAD
branch, because I'm not sure when an official release of mc will be
released and I don't want to be stuck with the pre3 tarball for ages.
Please note that the revertion would require bumping up the Epoch tag,
because 4.6.1a > 4.6.1-pre3, what you really don't want.

Furthermore having a recent package in the devel branch in FC helps also
the upstream mc in the way that FC has a large base of testers which is
now reduced due to the lingered mc release policy.

In case of RHEL I expressed myself exactly in bug:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/beta/show_bug.cgi?id=131148
that I'll try to use pre3 tarball as an errata candidate for RHEL3

I don't understand how this effort is wasted as we have these patches
applied in Fedora releases, will be included into RHEL, are 100%
compatible with pre3 because of FC3 update and work on further fixes to
them is in progress thanks to RFEs in bugzilla. The patches simply works
also thanks to you.

cheers,
Jindrich
