PROFTPd problem

Hello Address,

I get into some problems with MC, 
    when i want to connect from my freeBSD system using MC to my home debian proftpd ftp server, it says login incorrect, but it isn't. Anything else ftp client works.

Are they incompatible, or is it a special unique problem for me? What can i do? There is nothing better that MC to use..
