FYI, I've just installed mc-4.1.40-pre8 on a Redhat 4.1 libc5 system,
without gpm code:

[root at woodstock /home]# ldd /usr/bin/mc
        libc.so.5 => /lib/libc.so.5.3.12

Why should I install glib..? :)
