Maybe I should switch to the original KBD-1.08 package. I saw that many other 
distros changed from console-tools http://lct.sourceforge.net to kbd 
ftp://ftp.win.tue.nl/pub/home/aeb/linux-local/utils/kbd/ and then try again.
